Highlights:

The Kingpin Heel features Vertical & Horizontal Adjustable Release Function which allows for individual DIN settings for both the vertical and horizontal release of the binding to ensure the safest possible release. The anti-icing pads in the toe piece prevents ice from building up under the locking system to make certain that stepping into and releasing out of the toe is properly safe. The heel piece also features 3 climbing positions composed of a neutral position and a 7 and 13 degree rise for varying levels of inclined ascents. Ski Crampon mounts can also be found on the toe of the binding for glacier and firm snow touring.

Things to consider:

The Kingpin 13 is neither the lightest pin binding nor the highest performing alpine binding, so if you are looking for the highest achiever in either of those realms you are in the wrong place. However, you do get the best of both worlds at the highest weight. There are higher downhill performance hybrid bindings, but they are going to weigh a good deal more than the Kingpin. If you are seeking a binding that is the most similar to an alpine binding in performance that has touring capabilities, the Duke PT or Shift binding would be the better picks. If you are after maximum weight savings and are not overly aggressive, the Alpinist or some other full pin binding would be your jam. For the best of both sides of the coin, the Kingpin is the best of the rest.
